Wyoming Innovation Center
Four years ago the Wyoming Business Council representative began discussions with local business innovators, Councilmen, Campbell County, the City of Gillette, the Governor’s office, the Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration and the Energy Capital Economic Development about a vision of creating an activated carbon open access platform to attract specialists to develop thoughtful processes with coal and related mined materials for non-combustion purposes. They have worked together to make this concept a reality. On the entire planet there are only a few dedicated maker-spaces that allow growing CCUS (Carbon Capture, Utilization and Sequestration) technologies from a pre-commercial idea to a market-ready process. We are very fortunate to have a number of these spaces in Wyoming primarily centered in this area. The Wyoming Innovation Center project is on approximately 9.5 acres on two lots at Fort Union Industrial Park and will consist of three main components: 1) Main building with offices and labs, 2) material processing building, 3) open air pilot pads for development of innovative processes. The main building pictured below, with offices and labs, is 4,070 square feet.
